About Us

We are just ordinary, everyday people who want banks and building societies to take corporate and social responsibility seriously and not just engage in high profile corporate responsibility campaigns for show, whilst pursuing actions and agendas that actively cause poverty in the name of chasing ever-larger profits. If you look on your bank's or building society's website you will likely find a corporate responsibility statement. We want to help the banks and building society's bring themselves fully into line with their corporate and social responsibility statements. That way it is hoped these statements will have real meaning and real credibility.

This is not about punishing the banks and building societies and causing them to lose money. Our purpose is to help the banks and building societies become more mindful of society's best interests and mindful of not causing poverty. We aim to achieve this in a constructive way that cannot easily be ignored. We recognise that banks and building societies are run by human beings and that in today's society it is very easy to overlook society's best interests when trying to survive in the world of competitive business.

We will be seeking the active co-operation of banks and building societies to review our recommendations and share their own ideas on implementing reforms to safeguard vulnerable people and the general public from financial harm. We will publicly commend the banks and building societies that show the greatest enthusiasm and commitment toward overcoming anti-social banking practises.

Going forward, through active competition for the Honourable Banking Blue Star Awards society should get a clearer picture on which banks and building societies are worthy of trust and merit and which ones have room for improvement. Similarly banks and building societies should begin to prosper in sustainable ways that help them become much respected and admired engines for society's greater good.
